It's interesting how we started off on the same foot by working "backwards". It was good how you ended off the assignment with more questions- making us realize that there's always more to problems and there's no end to them. As for the best number to start with- I think it would be 1 for this case... you just needed to keep working backwards- the winning person needs to hit 25, in order to hit 25, he would want to get 19- etc.
